Ludwig Oechslin
Ludwig Oechslin is quite possibly the most creative and exciting developer of timepieces today. His concepts are geared towards achieving high-level functionality and ingeniously simple technical solutions. His immense knowledge stems from his studies of theoretical physics and mathematics, Ancient Greek and astronomy, amplified by his experience of dismantling, restoring and reassembling the Vatican’s Farnese astronomical clock, his groundbreaking designs for Ulysse Nardin, and his reconstruction of long-forgotten time measurement systems such as the Antikythera Mechanism.
Dr. Oechslin also heads the world-renowned International Horological Museum (MIH) in La Chaux-de-Fonds, where he is involved in work of an academic and scientific nature. He conceived, for instance, the calendar mechanism of the museum’s flagship MIH watch.
In partnership with Embassy, 2006 saw Ludwig Oechslin establish his own watch brand: www.ochsundjunior.ch.
