Strong into the future

The second generation of the König family carries the family values in their DNA, the same strong sense for exclusivity, luxury and aesthetics. Values that have led the family business to become an internationally recognized meeting place for lovers of fine watchmaking and connoisseurs of the fine art of jewelry. To lead Embassy with its approximately fifty employees to the next stage, the König family planned ahead and prepared for the challenges of the future. In 2017, the Brenninkmeijer family participated as a vital growth partner through their family office BREGAL Company Capital. The knowledgeable management team remains a cornerstone of Embassy’s sustained development, now and into the future.

Brand diversity and spirit

The brands at Embassy read like a “who’s who” of the world’s largest and most renowned watchmakers. The company sells a large number of traditional Swiss watch brands: Breguet, Blancpain, Bulgari, Franck Muller, Hublot, or Ulysse Nardin, to name just a few. Embassy also operates the brand boutiques for Bvlgari, Cartier, Vacheron Constantin und Van Cleef & Arpels. The Lucerne family business is known far beyond the country’s borders as the place where you can find unique watchmaking works of art as well as classic and exclusive pieces of jewelry. Embassy is particularly proud to work with great watchmakers like Ludwig Oechslin. This resulted in the MIH-Uhr, which was sold exclusively by Embassy outside the international watch museum.

A visionary founder

Embassy’s success story began in the 1970s when Kurt König opened the world’s first independent Cartier boutique in Zurich, followed by two other Cartier boutiques in St. Moritz and Lucerne. Towards the end of the decade, he also opened a boutique specializing in exclusive Art Deco art objects, vintage Cartier watches and Cartier jewelry. The shop on Grendelstrasse in Lucerne was called “Embassy”. It quickly established itself and remains the company’s headquarters to this day. Kurt König’s unique instinct for luxury and future trends made him one of the great pioneers in the classic retail trade. This made Embassy an important partner for some of the world’s most prestigious watch and jewelry brands.
