Goods export from Switzerland private individuals
Goods that were purchased duty-free in Switzerland must be exported within 30 days. The export document (the customer receives the return envelope when purchasing the goods in the shop) must be stamped at a border crossing and signed by the customs officer. It is the customer’s responsibility to return the paper to us stamped and signed (using the return envelope). If these steps are not taken, the customer will be charged the previously secured deposit of 7.7% (by credit card) after 30 days.
The most important points on the export of goods
- Put it in a mailbox or ask if you can hand it in at the customs officer. DO NOT use the registration box.
- The document can be returned from anywhere. Attention, if from abroad – additional postage needed.
- Check on site whether a telephone number can be called.
- If possible, go to another crossing -> the document can also be processed at a foreign customs authority, e.g. to Geneva (often not staffed) if you travel to France -> go to the French border crossing.
- Alternatively, the export document can be brought to the Swiss embassy in your own country and processed.
- The export documents were not stamped (just dropped in a mailbox).
- None of the above steps have been taken.
- We can wait longer than 30 days if you need more time (e.g. to visit the Swiss embassy in your home country). Please contact sales@embassy.chfor this..
- Is possible, but the period is limited. Please contact the seller as soon as possible or send an e-mailsales@embassy.ch.
- There are manned customs counters at the airport around the clock. Get it stamped and drop it in a mailbox.
