TUDOR presents a new technical model with a completely new aesthetic. The wristwatch, named Black Bay Pro, has a diameter of 39 mm, a fixed stainless steel bezel, and a manufacture movement with a built-in GMT function. The model, part of the Black Bay line, boasts numerous new and unique aesthetic details, such as a completely redesigned winding crown for maximum grip. Echoing the rounded shape of the winding crowns on the brand’s historic technical watches, this new component is flush with the case middle, rendering the crown tube invisible. Another new feature is the applied hour markers on the dial, crafted from luminescent monobloc ceramic. This accentuates the technical aesthetic of the Bay Pro and significantly enhances the luminous surface of the hour hands. A new clasp with a TUDOR “T fit” system for quick length adjustment completes the list of innovations on this model. The practical “T fit” system, which requires no additional tools, offers five positions and allows wearers to adjust the bracelet length by up to 8 mm. On the Black Bay Pro model, the reference time is displayed by a square yellow “snowflake” hand – an aesthetic hallmark of TUDOR – which completes one revolution of the dial every 24 hours. Local time is indicated by another, shorter “snowflake” hand, which can be set via a jumping hour and moved in both directions. A window at the 3 o’clock position displays the date, which is linked to the local time hand. When the time is set, it automatically jumps back to the previous day once the clock has passed midnight. This is an unusual, refined, and particularly practical feature for the wearer. KEY POINTS
Throughout history, TUDOR wristwatches have repeatedly been the timepiece of choice for the most daring adventurers. This was the case, for example, with the 30 participants of the two-year British North Greenland Expedition, who conducted research in the Arctic ice exactly 70 years ago. The brand’s founder, Hans Wilsdorf, equipped the expedition members with TUDOR models. He had recently developed the first waterproof, self-winding TUDOR wristwatch, the Oyster Prince, and could imagine no better environment for testing it than the extreme Arctic climate. The Black Bay Pro is a tribute to these instruments worn by the pioneers of research. It is a functional watch designed for professional use.
